  1. I am so thankful I got the opportunity to travel to OR and be with Lyle and the rest of the family for several days. There were many blessings that occurred during this time, such as the day nurse, Vickie, supporting our desire to help him with a holistic approach, being able to see healed relationships, and especially getting the CCU almost to ourselves for the first few days so we could love on Lyle. As the unit became more busy we saw the rules tighten, although they really did extend lots of grace and flexibility for our family to rally around Lyle.

Here's a little funny memory from this time I got to spend with Lyle...

When the night time nurse commented on Lyle’s long nails, I interjected something about painting them… Lyle’s eyebrows lifted high and his eyes got big. The nurse said, “I won’t let that happen Lyle, I got your back!” Lyle obviously understood exactly what I said and wasn't going to have any of that nail painting stuff going on. LOL!

  2. I have known Lyle for around ten years. It has been my pleasure to have spent the last 5 or so years in Sunday morning meeting with him. I don't remember a single conversation with him that has failed to bring a smile to my face and my heart. He loves to joke with my children whenever he can and tell stories about his own family. Lyle is one enjoyable fellow, and I love the spirit he carries with him. Thanks for the opportunity to comment and for the blog on Lyle.
    Sincerely, Rory Mosman(a friend)

  3. I so enjoyed looking at the pictures of the Nitschke family. We have been so impressed with the care and love Lyle's family has shown for him and for every effort to keep him comfortable. It was so nice to get acquainted with Lyle's family. Lyle has always been special to us, always happy, friendly, and considerate of others. We count it a privilege to have been in Sunday morning meeting with Lyle and John for many years.

  4. Thank you Donna for your comment. We so appreciated that you opened your home for us and gave us free reign to come and go as needed. It made such a difference while we were there.

  5. I have known Lyle for over 15 years and consider him a great friend. He is always ready to lend a helping hand where needed. We meet with Lyle and his brother, John on Sunday morning and for a Bible Study on Wednesday evening. We are all pulling for you, Lyle, and hope you will be back on your feet soon.

  6. We've appreciated greatly getting acquainted with Lyle and John's family. It's been a good experience for all of us to share in though not the kind we look forward to. Have been grateful for Lyle's stories about lifes experiences and sharing with us a lesson from them that helped him. He's been an encouragement to all of us in his thankfulness and kindness to all.

  7. We felt it was a great privilege to be Lyle's friend. We always looked for his smiling face whenever we would meet together. He would always go out of his way to speak to us. He had such a special way of cheering us all up and showed so much love and interest in each of us. His life was like a light, a cheerful light in a dark world! We will miss him so much. Thankful for the Gospel that brought us into such good fellowship.

  8. You are a part of my childhood memories. Charlie and Anna Malone were my grandparents. Your mom brought you to meeting in Prineville and I thought you were a beautiful family. Years went by and I re-met Betty at my cousin's in Sacramento, Fall of 2008. I was impressed by her thoughtful, sweet spirit. Betty and I became facebook friends during 2010. I have enjoyed that friendship as well as many 'family' posts and photos. So sorry for your loss of Lyle...and esp. for Helen. It's so hard to lose a son/daughter. Thinking of you all. Several of you live near us (we live near Tacoma). Maybe we will meet again. Love, Cathy (Brands) Krack
